Concrete mixers and steel pots!

It takes a child's free head to have original creative thought flow!

My nephew surprised me this morning. While we were Skyping family from Delaware to India, the three and half year old got busy playing with his new `toy'.

For a kid enamored of anything `machine', particularly concrete mixers, my husband and I wondered what this new toy was about. After all, he monopolises the laptop, demanding endless videos of concrete mixers, washing machines, air-conditioners, ceiling fans, pedestal fans, trucks....!

In fact, when his fussing over food hits the roof, my parents-in-law drive him down to the highway to feed him. He only needs to watch moving trucks, containers, buses, cars and two-wheelers to gulp down mouthfuls. And his favourite spots in the neighbourhood are where new homes and buildings get built - granite, concrete, sand et al.

Today, his new toy was indeed a steel pot shining new. It had a wide mouth. Guess what the toddler likened it to? Concrete mixer! He rolled it on the floor and invited every one to take a look at his new `machine'. He tried tilting the pot and rolling it again, attempting the mechanism used in concrete mixers!

We're now waiting for stories of what he pours into his concrete mixer and builds with it!

How wonderful it would be, if elders were this innovative?
